Restoration Updates for Summer 2026
A close up of one of the angel mural sketches, drawn on canvas by MuralWorks. Thanks to your generosity, important work to preserve and beautify our historic church continues this summer. Restoration of the church foundation is now underway. As repairs began, additional stone damage was discovered on the north side of the building, requiring more extensive work than originally anticipated. We are also repairing and sealing the front steps to help protect the church for years

Welcoming Our First Communicants to the Table of the Lord
Over the past several weekends, we celebrated Holy Mass as 37 of our children received their First Holy Communion. The Eucharist lies at the very heart of our faith. Instituted by Jesus at the Last Supper, on the night He was betrayed, it is both a sacrifice and a meal. At every Mass, the bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. He is truly present! For these children, this moment follows their formation through Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, where they hav

National Foster Care Month
May is National Foster Care Month. Nearly 400,000 children in the U.S. foster care system are waiting for safe, loving homes. Each of these numbers is a child with a name, a family longing for healing, a story waiting to unfold. In every foster or adoption journey, LOVE makes the difference. This month, we celebrate the powerful stories of Catholic families who opened their hearts and homes to children in answer to God’s call. Julia, a foster mom, decided that she could do mo

Caring for Our Sacred Space: A Step Forward
At St. Mary Catholic Church, even small improvements reflect a larger commitment to caring for the spaces where we encounter Christ. A closeup view of the custom made stair leading up to the tabernacle. Originally, the high altar had two much larger steps that allowed for Mass to be celebrated toward the tabernacle. Recently, parishioner Joe Miller, a member of the Building and Maintenance Committee, crafted a new altar step leading up to the tabernacle. Designed to match the

From Our Walls to the Cross: A Hidden Story of Good Friday
Parishioners approach the cross in veneration during the Good Friday service. Each Good Friday, we are invited to approach the Cross in adoration. We come forward in silence, to touch, to kiss, to venerate a symbol of the wood upon which Christ gave His life for the world. This year, the cross we venerate carries a story that is quietly formed from the life of our parish. Some years ago, when structural work was done to stabilize the church’s tallest steeple cross, a large wo

Parable of the Found Coin
During a recent Catechesis of the Good Shepherd session, one of our third graders found a creative way to reflect on Jesus’ parable of the Found Coin—by turning it into a “Holy Comic Book.” His artwork beautifully captures the joy of being found and reminds us of the rejoicing in heaven when even one person returns to God. Read the full story and see how this young disciple brought the Gospel to life.
