What If You Really Knew the Gospel?
Last year, something remarkable happened at St. Mary.
Week after week, more than 120 adults gathered together to encounter the Gospel through The Rescue Project. They came from different backgrounds and different places in their faith journeys, but they shared a desire to understand something at the heart of Christianity:
What is the Gospel, and what does it mean for my life?
This fall, The Rescue Project is coming back to St. Mary.
More Than a Bible Study
The Rescue Project is an eight-week experience of the Gospel built around food, conversation, prayer, and community. Rather than simply presenting Christianity as a collection of rules or teachings, it invites participants to step back and look at the bigger story of God's creation, humanity's fall, Christ's rescue, and our response.
The experience is designed for everyone.
You might have spent your whole life following Jesus. You might be returning to the Church after years away. You might have questions about Christianity or simply want to understand your faith more deeply.
You don't have to have all the answers before you come.
The Rescue Project is an opportunity to listen, talk, pray, and encounter the Gospel alongside other people who are asking many of the same questions.
Why Are We Doing This?
At St. Mary, we want our parish to be more than a place we attend on Sunday. We want to be a community where people encounter Jesus, grow as disciples, and are equipped to share the Good News with others.
That is exactly what The Rescue Project is designed to do. Its goal is not simply to give us more information about Christianity, but to help us encounter the Gospel and consider how we are called to respond.
And the response we saw last year tells us that people are looking for this.
More than 120 adults participated each week. That is more than a number. It represents 120+ people choosing to set aside time to listen, talk, pray, and consider what it means to follow Jesus.
Now we're inviting even more people to join us.
What to Expect
Rescue Nights will take place from 6:00–8:00pm on:
October 7, 14, 21
November 4, 11, 18
December 9
Each evening includes food, video teaching, small-group conversation, and prayer. Participants will be placed at tables where they can build relationships and continue the conversation from week to week.
We'll also have a Fellowship Night on October 28, open to the entire parish, and a Rescue Retreat on Saturday, December 5, from 9:00am–3:00pm, with lunch provided.
The Rescue Project recommends meeting weekly because the relationships and conversations that develop between sessions are an important part of the experience.
You Can Help Make It Happen
An experience built around food and community takes a lot of people behind the scenes.
We're looking for volunteers to help provide food and childcare during the series. You don't have to participate in the full Rescue Project to help make these evenings possible.
