St. Mary Organization for Women (SMOW) : Leadership Duties
SMOW Leadership Team
Director, Erin Yerian
- Oversees all fundraisers, activities, programs and events with coordinators below
- Plans and conducts meetings for leadership team as needed
- Serves as contact for new members working with Communications/Membership Coordinator
- Maintains membership records, Protecting God’s Children Certification records (distribute to all leadership team), and email distribution list with Communications/Membership Coordinator
- Recruits new coordinators and volunteers for coordinators as needed
- Organizes and conducts meetings (held the 4th Wed. of each month)
- Requests meeting locations, dates, times yearly or as needed
- Plans monthly meeting topics and arranges activity/speaker
- Gets keys from parish office on day of all meetings and/or events
- Creates and copies saint handout and/or other spiritual development handouts for meetings
- Prepares and leads prayers for meetings
- Brings snacks and beverages to meetings
- Provides weekly email announcement content to Communications/Membership Coordinator
- Maintains communication with coordinators as needed
- Provides assistance with other Coordinator duties as needed
- Communicates with Staff Liaison and Parish Council Representative as needed
- Communicates with NCCW/DCCW as needed
Communications/Membership Coordinator, Beth Murray-Beachnau
- Maintains SMOW email distribution list with Director
- Sends Director’s weekly email announcements and coordinator volunteer requests to members
- Increases parish awareness of SMOW and provide SMOW materials for Parish Information Fair
- Sends postcards to new women parishioners and mothers of newly baptized listed in bulletin using Neighborhood Network Database
- Creates and maintains all SMOW forms, postcards, brochures, advertisements, posters
- Distributes above updated documents to Director and other coordinators as needed
- Sends membership applications and SMOW information to parish women who request it
- Submits all SMOW bulletin announcements as needed

- Provides assistance with other Coordinator duties as needed
- Maintains communication with Director as needed
- Attends leadership team and monthly meetings as much as possible
SMOW Events/Fundraising Coordinator, Erin Maynard
- Oversee and plan SMOW events and recruit volunteers
- Plans Children’s Halloween/Christmas parties
- Plans SMOW Annual Tea
- Organizes Fish Fry Bake Sale (Michele Himes Lent 2008)
- Easter Story Eggs Assembly and Sales
- Works with Director and organizes other fundraising efforts
- Plans Lent/Advent by Candlelight with Megan Naumovski
- Provides assistance with other Coordinator duties as needed
- Maintains communication with Director and Communications Coordinator as needed
- Attends leadership team and monthly meetings as much as possible
Parish/Community Events Coordinator, Erika Shimp
- Oversees and plans Parish/Community events and recruit volunteers
- Recruits volunteers for parish and community needs
- Recruit volunteers for Baptism preparation class when needed
- Organizes Operation Easter Basket
- Coordinates Dessert of the Month package donation for Harvest Ball and Auction
- Plans yearly Common Ground Free Store volunteering with Diana Toth
- Coordinates volunteers for Parish Information Fair
- Provides assistance with other Coordinator duties as needed
- Maintains communication with Director, Communications Coordinator and other parish/community contacts as needed
- Attends leadership team and monthly meetings as much as possible
Financial Coordinator, Donna Ames
- Maintains SMOW checking account
- Maintains budget for SMOW
- Provides monthly financial report to planning team – (4th Monday of each month)
- Collects and deposits annual dues and fundraiser money
- Purchases gifts for meeting speakers as needed
- Writes reimbursement checks to other coordinators as needed and has signed at parish office
- Pays group NCCW/DCCW yearly dues
- Provides assistance with other Coordinator duties as needed
- Maintains communication with Director as needed
- Attends leadership team and monthly meetings as much as possible
SMOW Program Leaders
Women of Grace Summer Book Study Coordinator, Stephanie Goginsky
- Has completed the program
- Recruits and advises facilitators
- Organizes one summer session each year
- Publicizes Book Study within the church community
- Maintains files and documents
- Maintains communication with Director and Communications Coordinator as needed
Ministry Of Mothers Sharing (MOMS) Coordinator, vacant
- Has completed the program and facilitated at least one group
- Recruits, trains and advises facilitators
- Organizes at least two MOMS sessions each year
- Publicizes each MOMS session within the church community
- Maintains MOMS files and documents
- Coordinates babysitting for MOMS sessions
- Works directly with the Coordinators of Prayer Sponsors and Celebration Dinner
- Communicates and works with Director and Communications Coordinator as needed

Caring Cooks Coordinator, Amy Hammond
- Organizes volunteers to make meals and provide other needed support for women in the church community who have recently had or adopted a baby, death in the family, or surgery or illness
- Finds ways to identify women in need of meals/support
- Maintains communication with Director and Communications Coordinator as needed
Playgroup Coordinator, Vacant
- Organizes weekly playgroup activities and fieldtrips
- Maintains playgroup email distribution list
- Maintains communication with Director and Communications Coordinator as needed
