St. Mary Organization of Women (SMOW) :  Activities & Opportunities

Ministry of Mothers Sharing (MOMS)

Ministry of Mothers Sharing (MOMS) is an eight week program giving women the opportunity to develop self-esteem, relationship skills, and a more defined sense of their own spirituality at a time when they are facing the difficult challenges of raising a family. Mothers will learn to share with other mothers the stress, concerns, and positive experiences that have influenced their personal growth.

Caring Cooks

Caring Cooks is a group of SMOW volunteers who provide meals to women in our parish when they have or adopt a baby, or have a serious illness or surgery. This is our way of helping during a busy time for women and their families. Please contact Andres Linsey if you know a woman in need of meals, or to volunteer!

Playgroup

A year-round playgroup meets in Kavanagh Hall every Friday 10-11:30 a.m. where the children play with ample toys, books and coloring pages. The moms get to have a little adult-conversation while their children (primarily ages infant through preschool) get to play and interact with other children. We often feature themed-activities for holidays and try and take a field trip once a month! In the summer we meet at different parks to play. (A fun way to get to know Delaware and the Columbus area). The best way to find out more is to be on the email list so you can find out what the playgroup is up to each week. This is an awesome way to meet other women, creating bonds of friendship for you and your children.  We are currently seeking someone to take charge of this activity.

Women of Grace Book Study

Celebrate the great gift of authentic femininity for 10 weeks using Johnnette Benkovic's book Full of Grace. Through dynamic DVD presentations, stimulating curricula, and lively discussions, study group participants experience the transformation that only comes through Jesus Christ. Join our next group and discover the special grace of our gender and the awesome mission God has entrusted to us. Look for future bulletin announcements or contact Stephanie Goginsky for more information.

Fingerprinting and Protecting God's Children

Many of the programs at St. Mary involve volunteering with and caring for children. It is a mandatory program for all whom work or volunteer with children in our diocese. To register, please go to www.virtus.org. Click on "registration."  Call the parish office if you don't have access to the Internet. For your convenience, fingerprinting is available at St. Mary school office the second Friday of each month form 9:00 – 3:00 p.m. A fee of $25 will be payable to St. Mary.
