Faith Formation : Parish School of Religion (PSR)

Welcome to the St. Mary Parish School of Religion webpage! Every Catholic family has the duty to pass on the truth of our Catholic faith to the next generation.

The Parish School of Religion (PSR) mission is to assist parents in the religious education and spiritual formation of their children. Our program is concerned with the spiritual development of students in the parish, grade levels kindergarten through eighth, who attend non-parochial schools. Within the setting of our parish and our community, we are to transmit the message of Jesus Christ to the families who participate in our program.

We are looking for parishioners with love for Christ and middle school youth, a desire to minister, a willingness to serve as a Christian role model, and a weekly commitment. Please call the Religious Education Office and help bring our kids closer to Jesus!

*** All participants must complete a Protecting God's Children program through the diocese and have a BCI check.  Please contact the Religious Education Office for additional details.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

PSR offers a program this year for 3 -5 year olds. The program is called the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and is based on the Montessori method. I am very excited about offering this great program here at St. Mary's. We will have 2 trained catechist (90 hours training) available to launch the program.  We will need a lot of help getting our atrium furnished.  We will also need some 3 - 5 year olds, so if you know anyone who may be interested in the program please let them know about it.  Please see the link below and also go to the web site  www.cgsusa.org. If you have questions please call or email Ann Manning (369-8228, amanning@delawarestmary.org)

For more information go to the link below to view a video from a parish in Long Island, St. Margaret of Scotland, where the priest himself is the catechist and formation leader. The video is a nice introduction to the program.
